John D. Mayo
John brings experience to the table.
Over the course of his career, John has served as a public defender, a town attorney, and a corporate and small business advisor. He regularly handles multi-million-dollar real estate matters, works closely with school districts and municipalities, and helps families navigate the complex world of estate planning.
This extensive background has prepared John to handle the most complex cases and complicated clients.
A large portion of John’s practice includes executing multi-million dollar commercial, residential, and timberland real estate transactions for a wide range of clients. His real property litigation work includes landline disputes, confirmation actions, ejectments, foreclosures, eminent domain, contract adverse possession, and probate issues. His commercial litigation work includes contract disputes, construction matters, wrongful death, asbestos, and product liability.
John currently serves as the attorney for the Louisville Municipal School District Board of Trustees, advising on all issues related to school law, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), teacher retention and termination, student discipline and due process, and disability law.
John holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell and regularly lectures on real property issues.
